Quote Master
1.pg 2 - " The monkeys took over the world and the lemur branch of the primate family died out everywhere"
I feel it has significance because it references to evolution as well as the growing power and impact mankind has let on the earth
2.pg 2 - "twig technology"
To me it has a bigger meaning as it shows how not only have we evolved but our tools as well from twigs to cars, power tools, boats, computer and so much more.
3.pg 5 - "I was able to lie back and enjoy being wonderfully, serenely, hideously uncomfortable"
This passage shows how that it's actually relieving and joyful to be surrounded by nature and its environmental factors even if it doesn't compare to hotels & tours in terms of luxury.
4.pg 6- "I was a monkey looking at a lemur"
To me this quote also had reference to evolution and how we are still considered monkeys. Our ability to learn and comprehend is far greater than before and yet here we are today looking in to the eyes of the lemur and the lemur looking in us as we are still perplexed by one another.
5.pg 7 - " 'the first monkey-free refuge was set up by chance. The second was actually set up by the monkey. ' "
Despite accidentally killing off the lemurs millions of years of ago in our strive to be the fittest of all creatures, we are now trying to make up for past times and assisting the animals that we nearly drove to extinction and those we didn't. Is somewhat ironic if you ask me.
In response to the quote "twig technology" I find it really interesting how he describes the boat as an advance of twig technology. This shows the progress humans have made in their quest to constantly make things easier.
ReplyDeleteI also am astounded by the quote "I was a monkey looking at a lemur. . ." because he truly showed how evolved we humans are from being unintelligent primates. Humans have evolved drastically and now can even control the population of the less fit species, the lemurs.
well~~~ im not really that astounded when i saw the quote" i was a monkey looking at a lemur" because i thought that we are born in monkey-like
Deletenice!!! job
ReplyDeleteI think that these quotes are significant because they all talk about the lemur and its descendant, the monkey, and how it relates to each other. It tells that the monkey ruled over the world and astounding advances in the twig technology.
